Crystal clear insulating blinds from HTG. Reduces heat loss by up to 80% and cuts out cold draughts.

Replacement windows or fitting secondary glazing can be expensive, cumbersome, and aesthetically unacceptable on period, sash and heritage windows. However the problem of cold and draughty rooms can be easily solved by installing our crystal clear insulating blinds to reduce heat loss by up to 80% and cut out cold draughts.

They function in the same way as double glazing by forming a tight seal that traps a pocket of air to form a insulating barrier between the window and the blind. Neat and inconspicuous they do not alter the appearance of the window frame, and are light and easy to use.

They provide the following benefits:

  • Crystal Clear – same clarity as glass
  • Stops cold draughts and cuts heat loss by up to 80% – same performance as double glazing
  • Neat and Inconspicuous – all fittings are barely noticeable
  • Practical and lightweight – access to windows for opening and cleaning is simple and straightforward
  • Maintenance free and simple to install
  • Effective at helping cut out external sound

They also cut out 85% of UV rays to combat fading, and form a tight seal to cut pollution and dust. Simple and easy to install, they are perfect for a DIYer or a local handy man to fit, keeping installation costs to a minimum.

We supply 3 simple to install options–

1) patented roller blinds, 2) fixed blind, 3) single or double panel rigid blind.

Option 3 is especially effective for sound proofing. The best option will depend on your window type and situation.

Full details and videos that show how easily they can be fitted are shown below.

Option 1 – Roller Blind – to cut cold draughts and heat loss

The blind seals against the top of the window frame with a pivoting roller that nips tight against a sealing pad when drawn down. Specially developed Velcro forms the seal at the sides and bottom of the blind.

Crystal Clear Insulating and Draught Proof BlindsThe insulating blind is made from ‘flexible glass’ with superb optical clarity. To operate, simply pull the blind down, and depress the lever on each roller bracket to seal the roller against the neoprene strip on the window frame. The sides and bottom seals are made by pressing the blind’s Velcro strips (on the perimeter of the blind) to those on the window frame. A drawstring pull cord and rod for operation of the blind from floor level can also be supplied.

They are ideal for all windows but especially draughty types such as sash, period windows and doors (especially French doors). They are lightweight, inconspicuous, provide easy ventilation, simple to operate and easy to clean. A maximum width of 1.2m (48ins) is recommended.

Standard colours are white, brown or nutmeg to match dark oak, light oak, pine, mahogany and stone mullion.

Option 2 Fixed Flexible Blinds – to cut cold draughts and heat loss

The Fixed flexible blinds are ideal for windows that are rarely opened, or if you are looking for a solution that is virtually invisible or cost is a major consideration. What’s more, as it is flexible, it can easily be removed, rolled up and stored in a tube at the end of the heating season. In most cases this option can be used where there are internal shutters.

The blind is simply removed for window opening and cleaning. We recommend a maximum width of approximately 1metre (40ins) for ease of handling. Standard colours are white, brown or nutmeg to match dark oak, light oak, pine, mahogany and stone mullion.

Option 3 One and Two Panel Rigid Blinds – to cut cold draughts, heat loss and sound

Made from rigid light weight scratch resistant glazing grade of polycarbonate the system comprises one single or two overlapping panes which seal with Velcro against the window frame. This version is especially effective at cutting external sound.

The centre overlap of the two panel version corresponds exactly with the meeting rail of the sash window, or glazing bar of a casement window, which means it, is virtually invisible against the window frame. The rigid, single pane movable blind spans the whole window giving a totally inconspicuous finish that does not interfere with the operation of internal shutters.

To open or clean your sash window, simply lift the lower pane onto a Velcro parking position on the upper pane. For casement windows, the pane is parked to the side. No storage is therefore necessary, which means that the product is extremely practical and convenient. A special grade of Velcro is used which allows the panes to be hinged into the room for controlled ventilation.

Standard colours are white, brown or nutmeg to match dark oak, light oak, pine, mahogany and stone mullion.
