Solar laminates for glass roofs
Once fitted the laminate becomes part of the glazing. Based on Poly Vinyl
chloride, one of the most durable polymers known, it is used in the most demanding
climatic conditions. It has a life expectancy of twenty years which is generally
greater than the life of a double glazing unit. When upgrading existing roofs
where the predominant problem is high summer temperatures, Insu fit these
laminates to the external face of double glazed or single glazed units to eliminate
the solar heat before it enters the glazing.
On north, north east and north west facing conservatories where winter insulation
is also important we install an insulating laminate to the inside of the glazing
to cut winter heat by up to 20%.
The results are amazing – look at the benefits:
- Cuts solar heat gain by 85% in summer
By keeping your conservatory environment cooler in summer and most of spring
and autumn and warmer in winter (depending on the grade of laminate installed),
it means that your conservatory can be used comfortably for more of the year.
In general terms humans find conditions comfortable when temperatures are between
18 C (64F) and 28C (84F) and, as you can see by the typical graph, the time in
the ‘comfort zone’ is more than doubled when Insu solar laminate is fitted. What’s
more you will find that a more varied range of plants will not just survive but
will positively thrive!
- Eliminates uncomfortable glare and maintains the special light and airy feel of your conservatory.
Perhaps the best way to explain this feature is that the material acts like a
pair of sunglasses. The inserts are totally transparent but because of the
reflective tint properties they cut the glare to comfortable levels. It even
makes watching TV or using a computer possible where before it would be almost
impossible as the screen had to fight the glare.
- Insu solar laminate cuts UV levels through the conservatory roof by 99%!
While any natural light will cause furniture and fabrics to fade the major factors
are Ultra Violet light and solar heat. The eradication of the UV and reduction
of solar heat by fitting Insu solar laminate will drastically slow the rate
of fading keeping colours natural for longer. Of course much has been reported
about the harmful effects the sun’s UV rays have on the skin, with Insu laminate
fitted the risk all but disappears.
- Maintenance Free
As the laminate becomes part of the glazed units within the roof structure it is unlikely to suffer any damage and is fully guaranteed against deterioration caused by the elements. Unlike blinds, they won’t attract dust and insects and won’t fade and sag under the effects of heat and UV rays from the sun.
