Case Study
Miss Harris, Hampshire
“HTG has been a very good company to deal with, and have provided an excellent after sales service”.
Converting a space between her cottage and an extension into a sunroom gave Miss Harris a bright airy room, but after 18 years glazed panels on the roof had cracked and become opaque.
The southwest facing sunroom is a favourite of Miss Harris, as it allows her to gain the best of the light and extends the day especially in the spring and autumn.
HTG’s solution to the roof problem was to install HTG high performance double-glazed panels with heat reflectors, which have the added bonus of cutting the warmth in summer and reducing heat loss during the winter.
“The sun room used to get very cold in winter and too hot in summer,” explained Miss Harris. “It could get up to 120°F in summer, but on the warmest days we have had this year that has been cut to about 80°F, which is much more comfortable.
“The heat has always been a problem, but as it is a small room I didn’t want blinds. I felt they would clutter the room.
“The new roof has a slight tint but it doesn’t affect the light levels at all. I can still enjoy sitting in the sunroom long into the evenings.

HTG FACT: An HTG double glazed roof uses a solar laminate to prevent excessive heat gain and loss. The film has a slight tint, but it is so slight as Miss Harris observed it doesn’t affect light levels at all. In fact most people don’t even realise that it is there.
