Having a new roof on the conservatory has given Mr Clarke more opportunity to pursue his hobby.

He is an avid photographer and the conservatory gives him the ideal place to erect a temporary hide to photograph the wild life that visits his Kent garden, including a family of foxes that come to feed.

Slipping panels made the roof of the 16-year-old PVCu conservatory too long – so that the guttering was not able to cope with rainwater which was leaking back into the old polycarbonate roof and forming mould.

The installation of an HTG high performance polycarbonate roof with heat-reflectors on the west-facing extension made a world of difference.

“The new roof has got rid of the mould problem and solved the problems we had with the conservatory being too hot in summer and too cold in winter,” said Mr Clarke.

“The old roof gave no protection from the heat. It could go up to 100°F some days. But now, even when it has been shut up all day, the temperature has been considerably reduced.

“We can sit in the conservatory comfortably on a warm day and use it more in the winter months. Before it was often too cold but now we are using it all 12 months of the year.

“HTG did a very nice job for us, and we have told lots of our friends how pleased we are. It means we get a lot more use out of the conservatory.”
